Does anybody know when and where this was taken, and who all the guys in the picture are?
June, 2006: John Ratliff submitted this partial solution: "You asked about the people in the photo. The first person in the second row on the left is Bill McVay. I think that the first person in the third row on the left is my Dad, Donald E. Ratliff. I may be the guy next to Bill McVay, second from the left in the second row (I don't know for sure, as I don't look at myself that much, and didn't then either). There are a lot of familiar faces in the photo, so it's in my era (1962-64). I think the two brothers on in the first row are the Plyler brothers, Jim and Bob. The fellow that is seventh from the left in the top two rows, with his head only showing, is Bob Huskey. That's about all I can figure right now."
May 2007: From Terry Polk: "Sorry I didn't make it to the 50 year celebration. In viewing your web site I found myself in one of the pictures. Phil Olson wondered where it was and when it was. I can't really answer either question, but seeing that group brought back memories. In the second row, second from the right is Peter Maltby. Third from the right is me, Terry Polk. Fourth from the right is Scott Taylor.
"Perhaps the one of the more memorable missions with Post 18 came in November 1963. We were aboard an Oregon National Guard flying boxcar headed to an airfield near Omak, Washington where we were to search for a downed pilot. When we were over Wenatchee, someone came running back from the bridge saying the president (Kennedy) had been shot. The plane went into a steep dive and landed. We stayed on the ground for several hours before being given clearance to continue. We never found the pilot. We never learned if he died due to the -15 degree temperatures, the ever falling snow, or whatever caused his plane to crash. The search was integrated with MORESCO."
