This is an annotated chronology of searches by Post/Crew 18 related to Marion County Sheriff's Office Case #82-10070 - Sherry Eyrely disappearance - covering the period from 7-5-82 thru 10-26-91

07-05-82: Original search. Searched both sides of Riverwood Drive to about 15' off the road. Searched Colby Drive, the rock quarry, and the ponds at the quarry. Covered the river bank from the quarry back to the scene, then a farm access road, and all farm outbuildings. All fields between the scene and the river, and the river side of the farm back to the golf course. (81 manhours, 14 miles)

07-08-82:---- River Road S. Type 3 search thru 5-6' blackberries on both sides of the 3/4 mile driveway, about 25' into the woods. Also searched an old logging road and a large field on the property. (55 manhours, 82 miles)*

07-09-82: Browns Island landfill. Type 3 search of the west side of the dump, west of the caretakers' residence and the area that was currently being dumped in. Searched the riverbank west of the dump near the farm, and the west side of a cornfield by the river. (55 manhours, 24 miles)*

08-02-82: Illahee Golf Course. Type 3 search of a wooded area north of the golf course, adjacent to the fairway, between the golf course and a farm. Also some Type 1 searches of trails on the south side of the woods. (102 manhours, 37 miles)

02-19-83: Thomas Creek area, Linn County. Searched the sides of various county roads. (189 manhours, 223 miles)

03-19-83: Little North Fork area. Type 2 and 3 searches of Shady Cove campground and the riverbank at the park; 3-pools area, including the access road and riverbank; and Salmon Falls Park. (123 manhours, 179 miles)

08-25-83: Elkhorn Lake. Searched the Forest Service road from its dead end to about 1 mile past the lake, around the lake and the parking area, and a trail on the north side of the lake. (133 manhours, 350 miles)

06-22-88: Riverhaven Drive. Re-searched the small gravel area off Riverhaven Drive near the point where the car had been found. (147 manhours, 110 miles) (Note: Jeep Patrol also participated in this search; their manhours and mileage are not included in these figures)

11-18-89: Road F2207. Search the area between the gravel pile and the woods. Dug up areas where Jeep Patrol's metal detectors indicated metal buried. Probed the entire area with stainless steel probes. (36 manhours, 47 miles) (Note: Jeep Patrol also participated in this search; their manhours and mileage are not included in these figures)

09-20-90: Sinker Creek area. Type 3 search, with probing "as required", in the vicinity of Sinker Creek and developed property in the area. Searched access road to about 14' in. (115 manhours, 149 miles)

10-26-91: Big Creek area. Type 2 and 3 searches of an extremely steep area alongside a turnout. (66 manhours, 246 miles)*

 


Totals: 1,102 manhours; 1,461 miles

Although the majority of Post/Crew 18's efforts to find Sherry occured between 1982 and 1992, searches related to this case continued sporadically over the years, right up to 2007.
